When I can help

Critical spare parts and obsolete equipment

A component is unavailable, discontinued or tied to an unacceptable OEM lead time. I help restore the engineering definition from samples and available records so the part can be evaluated for local manufacture.

Reverse engineering and lost documentation

When original design documentation is missing, I reconstruct geometry, interfaces and production requirements and turn the available evidence into 3D models, drawings and a manufacturable technical package.

R&D and industrial product development

I help structure the technical problem, compare design options, develop mechanical solutions and prepare documentation for prototypes, testing and production.

Localization and import substitution

The goal is not simply to copy a foreign part. The goal is to restore the enterprise's ability to obtain, inspect and reproduce a technically suitable component without dependence on one external source.

Technical audit, supplier review and FAT

Before an expensive purchase or payment, I can review specifications, supplier proposals, technical limitations, completeness, documentation and acceptance criteria from the customer's side.

DFM, cost and production preparation

I review geometry, materials, operations, assembly and documentation to find avoidable manufacturing complexity and make the design easier to produce, inspect and repeat.

How I approach a technical decision

I check three levels. Physics: will the solution work under the real loads, interfaces and operating conditions? Economics: what does the decision do to manufacturing cost, downtime, CAPEX, TCO, resource and dependence on suppliers? Execution: who can manufacture it, how will it be inspected and can the result be repeated.

I do not replace the customer's design office, chief mechanic, procurement team or technical director. My role is to create an independent engineering position, identify technical risks, compare options and help move the selected solution toward implementation.

Selected industrial projects

DC36 sheet-metal enclosure

A 900 VA equipment enclosure was redesigned around sheet-metal bending and simpler assembly. The project reduced the number of enclosure parts by approximately 25-40%, shortened the production cycle by about 15% and produced a calculated direct-cost reduction of up to 35%.

Screw compressor reverse engineering

A critical screw pair had to be reconstructed without the original design documentation. Geometry, rotor profiles and production requirements were restored from the available physical and dimensional evidence. The target engineering cycle was 15 working days.

Zhodino CHP modernization

I participated as a technician-designer in the project team working on modernization of Zhodino CHP, including equipment associated with a 60 t/h steam boiler. The project materials report an economic effect of approximately USD 4.7 million.

A good fit when

Bring me in when

The cost of a wrong technical decision is much higher than the cost of checking it. Typical situations include downtime risk, missing design documentation, failed localization, critical spare parts, supplier uncertainty, modernization, weak specifications, difficult manufacturability or acceptance before payment.

Probably not a fit when

You only need routine drafting from a complete specification, a visualization without engineering work, or a task unrelated to industrial equipment and mechanical engineering. I focus on problems where engineering judgement changes risk, cost or the ability to manufacture and operate the result.

About Pavel Samuta

I started my engineering career in 2007 at the Beloozersk Energy Mechanical Plant within the Belenergo system, working on industrial and energy equipment. My early work included participation in the Zhodino CHP modernization project.

I later spent more than eight years as a mechanical design engineer in Minsk, working with industrial equipment, mechanical assemblies, sheet-metal structures, production drawings, localization and reverse engineering. In 2018, as part of the Sinetekhno team, I contributed mechanical components for robotic camera and operator equipment used at Minsk Arena during Junior Eurovision 2018.

Since 2023 I have developed an independent engineering practice focused on complex industrial problems from problem definition and reverse engineering through design documentation, production selection, technical verification and implementation support. I also write and speak about engineering, industrial economics, technology independence and the business consequences of technical decisions.
